The Shire is one of the oldest Minecraft communities, started in October 2010. Our community is grey-listed, which means anyone can come on and explore, but you must sign up (it's free!) to get permission to build. We host several build competitions throughout the year, with winners receiving both in-game and real-life prizes such as Amazon vouchers. We've been featured in several high-profile news websites and YouTube channels, and some of our own YouTube videos have received >200K views. We have a [railway system](https://shirecraft.us/rail) that spans our entire main world with over railway stations; thats more than the London Underground.
